An introduction.....

As most of you will know, as I have banged on about it for ages now, on Thursday I am heading over to France to spend 3.5 weeks following the Tour de France. Not riding the entire route, I'm not a complete idiot but trying to get as close to living the race as I can as a fan on the road. I will have company for the last few days in the Alps but up until then it will be me, bike and the car.

The plan is to see the race at least once a day from the start at Mont Saint Michel through the Pyrenees, Spain, Andorra, Switzerland, Alps and onto Paris plus lots of other bits of France in between.

The bike is coming along, not only to take advantage of some riding opportunities but also, particularly in the mountains, it can be the best way of getting to a good vantage point.

So this blog is going to be my main way of sharing some stories of my trip as it progresses...feel free to share if you think anyone would be interested and of course ignore if you can't think of anything worse than reading about me pestering cyclists and standing on the roadside with my flag and cow bell.

Hopefully there will be some photos like this.

This fella is going to see plenty of activity

I will try not to get this close too often
